Day 22:
Pre-workout: A few macadamia nuts
Breakfast: Met a friend and ordered a skillet that said it just came with Machaca beef, potatoes and egg on top. It arrived with cheese. Arrgh, I hate that. I ate around the cheese and it was ok. I think the potatoes and perhaps whatever other hidden ingredients there were messed me up.
Lunch: red peppers and a scrambled egg, kombucha
Dinner: I just snacked on a little avocado because I felt bad and wasn't hungry at all
I think that breakfast messed me up. I felt really groggy and had a hard time waking up the next morning.
Day 23:
Breakfast: 2 eggs, espresso with some soy milk and foam (it was rainy and I wanted a treat), salami slices
Lunch: Leftover Pork pernil, sweet potato, kale chips, kombucha
Dinner: Mediterranean night - grilled leg of lamb steak, rosemary sausage, grilled eggplant, green salad, mashed cauliflower.
Feeling a little better today, but I think I didn't get enough sleep last night. I'm also starting to get a bit bored. I really want to do some healthy baking, but don't because of this Whole30. I'm itching to make fall things. Only one week so I'll hang in there.
Day 24:
Breakfast: Tea with cashew milk, scrambled eggs, a couple spoon fulls of homemade coconut butter (obsessed).
Lunch: Leftover lamb, cauliflower, kale chips and Kombucha
Dinner: Guacamole, onion, Trader Joe's carne asada, and shamefully some Screaming Yellow Zonkers
So, my husband, because he is the sweetest, kindest person ever, bought me my favorite crap food - Screaming Yellow Zonkers. Not did he just happen upon them and buy them, he searched them out. You see, they had a brief disappearance, and have now returned. I don't know why I love these, but I do. They are horrifically yellow, and taste of butter and pure sugar. If you haven't met these yet, I'm not sure you should. They are addictive. Addictive like I ate the whole box. Addictive like I'm mad that my dear sweet husband brought them in to the house.
I think perhaps my Whole30 should be more like a Whole24. I'll think this through and report tomorrow.
Day 25:
Pre-work out: 2 spoons of coconut butter
Breakfast: I had a late breakfast because of the busy morning. Made a quick salad with turkey meat, basil, green onion, and mayo and ate them in a lettuce cup, red peppers, and coffee with cashew milk.
Dinner: Roast chicken, dairy free butternut squash gratin.
I think this will be the last day I post. I thought about it, and it's sort of making me nuts. I wanted to do this to achieve a few goals, and I feel like I did. I think the box of Zonkers wasn't the worst in the world but for sure crashed my 30.
I'll go more in to it on my recap, but as I've said before, we try and eat like this every day. These 30 days were to take a serious look at my sugar intake and seriously cut back. Done. I wanted to see if I would feel better purging my body of it's sugar cravings. Done. I wanted to find out what foods are really working, and what are not. Done.
I'm going to continue the no dairy at all for another 5 days. That's the other important part. But I think I may just make these cookies because I really want to embrace the season and feel less chained to typing everything I eat. And really, it's not like they are these cookies (which are absolutely crazy amazing by the way).
