Monday Lunch Incentive: Keeping up the pumped

coolbus

Today is the first of what I hope to be an ongoing series here.

I'm only 2 weeks in to school, and I'm OVER making lunches. I've had it!

Yes, it's negative and ridiculous. Only 10 lunches made and I'm ready to call it quits. I'm tired of them whining about what they don't want to eat and begging for things they know they can't have.

I've grown bored with the usuals and I've lost my pump. I need something to move me forward.

One of my favorite things about having a blog is how it makes me more aware and intentional. Not that I want to turn everything in to content for a post, but when I know it may be a post I tend to pay attention more.

Every Monday I'll post their lunch from the week before. I'm not expecting total awesomeness as other lunch blogs are. But more community, inspiration and again my own awareness.

I'm fully aware that their lunches aren't strictly Paleo. I don't need to hear in what way they aren't. No, their lunches aren't Whole30 approved. That's not what I'm about here.

I'm in to nutrient density. I'm finding my way around their picky vegetable hating ways and trying to get them what they need. Only time and my persistance will change them, but it's a slow process.

Some days are better than others for what I consider healthy. Other days they beat me with their constant whining and uneaten lunches coming home. For those days I need these series of postings.

So here's their second week of school:

Monday:

Turkey, applesauce, red peppers(for one), cranberries (for one), beef jerky for snack, water.

Tuesday:

Salami, provolone, tomatoes (for one), dates with sunflower butter (for one), pop corn for snack because they have been whining about it, water.
The dates were a loss. They were so messy and oozy that it just didn't work. Great dessert for at home though.

Wednesday:

Salami (again I know, but it's their favorite), string cheese, leftover coleslaw, oranges, water, and apple sauce for snack.

Thursday:

Left over mini bacon wrapped slider (for one), turkey lunch meat (for one), apple slices, olives, bacon wrapped dates (for one). Yeah, bacon wrapped dates. His idea. It was quick and I decided to applaud is fancy schmancy lunch idea.

Friday:

Things were bleak. One kid already caught a cold and stayed home today. I was feeling this crud too so I painfully allowed one to buy his lunch. And this is what he bought - Chicken patty sandwich, blueberry muffin and ..... wait for it..... a SLUSHY. Mmmmmm hmmmmm his middle school sells slushy's.  Nothing but sugar for lunch.

But, this is a new week. I am recovered as is Eliana. We're ready for school and lunches and all that jazz.

Look out cool bus, here we come.

I like this! I don't make my daughter's lunch but maybe I should. Although, I know she won't touch half of that stuff. But I like the ideas! Thanks!!
