Edible Spa: Cool it Off

cucumbertoner_0001

It's been a long time since I busted out an edible spa post.

Not that I haven't been smearing things from the kitchen on my face all this time.

Strawberries  are the skin care of choice for me this time of year.

Recently I spent a few too many minutes under the hot sun. I was silly and forgot to slather another coat of sunscreen.

My irresponsibility spurred todays edible spa.

Cucumber and mint are synonymous for cool. Cool is for sure what I need.

I also was just interested in a simple home made face tonic to use through the day.

Both mint and cucumber help to relieve inflammation and unfortunately my shoulders were a bit inflamed.

Cucumber has ascorbic and caffeic acid that helps with water retention. In other words it relieves the puffy puff that can occur when one is irresponsible.

Even when one doesn't do stupid things, mint and cucumber are perfect for skin. Hydrating, smoothing and stimulating to new cells.

My toner is 3 ingredients. Mint, cucumber and distilled water. I bet you can't find a 3 ingredient facial product in a store.

I ran 2 sprigs of mint with 3 inches of cucumber through my juicer. I poured equal amounts of distilled water and my mint cuke juice into a clean bottle with a spray pump.

It will keep for about 2 weeks in the fridge. The refrigerator only enhances the cooling power of this stuff.

Every time I walk past I can't help but misting my face and healing shoulders. The kids have taken to squirting their faces when they come in from the heat.

The left over juice makes for a refreshing drink too. I added it to a glass of mineral water for lunch and it was light and dreamy. I think a splash of gin would be just fine too.

Fantastic! If my mint ever germinates, I know what I'll be using it for:)

Also, I heard that because cucumbers are about 10 degrees cooler than your body temperature, eating them hels to cool from the inside...anne
