It's only April and I'm already wishing the heat was over and it was fall.
The past few years I've ooohed and aaaahed over the desert colors, but it's hot.
Odd how quickly those colors fade when you have to crank up the AC.
I made myself pull over and appreciate the season and snap a quick picture.
I just wanted to remind myself of another good reason why I lived here.
Then I wanted something sweet.

My mind has been wandering off to places of popsicles and ice creams, but my body is completely acclimated to this clean eating. And still the kids have been inundated with "treats" for every freakin' occasion at school.
I hate being the bad guy at home every day, so I whipped up this healthier version of a strawberry shake. I omitted the "healthier" part and kept in the "shake" part when I announced what we were having.
It worked. I think fruit garnishes do wonders for selling a product.
The key here is the frozen banana. It gives it an ice cream like texture and a perfect sweetness. Plus, the strawberry flavor was much more prevalent here than in any other ice cream shake situation.
Rawberry Shake
serves 2
1 cup cashew milk (or any other milk you choose)
1 frozen banana
1 cup strawberries, hulled
1 Tablespoon vanilla
pinch of cardamon
Place milk in the blender first, then all other ingredients. Garnish with a whole strawberry for the rim. If your berries aren't sweet enough you could add sweetener of your choice.
One could argue this is simply a smoothie, but one best not.
Not if they wish to disturb the woman stuck in the desert with the blooms nearly gone and the thermometer reaching 100ยบ.

Mmm! Like the title, rawberry shake. I can't believe your temps are so high, that's wild:) At least the grass is starting to grow here!
