The Shoulders Of Giants

I did some remodeling, spring cleaning, and just changing everything all around.

I'm really in the mood for simple. The family starts hiding their goods when I get in this mood. Nothing is safe from the donation pile.

While I completely simplified everything here on my blog, that's not to say that this sort of thing is easy. In fact, there's been times when I've spent days revamping my "look". This time, I turned to someone who is far beyond me in making blogs spiffy.

Perhaps you've heard of her? Pugly Pixel? If you have not you are missing out, and so is your blog!

This remodel I decided to go with one of Katrina's templates instead of frustrating myself to no end with code.  Lemon Meringue is the name of this beautiful design, and it's perfectly clean and wonderfully customizable. I've been tinkering for just a couple of hours and seriously everything is how I want it (well, my post titles are a little messed up, but I'm sure that's just a line of CSS that is super easy that I've over looked).

I love how much Katrina gives of her knowledge and talent. She is constantly giving out freebies along with super cheap bling, and even tutorials. I may know how to erase wrinkles on your face, but when I want to know how to ombre that mug Pugly Pixel will show me how.

So I baked you a cupcake Pugly Pixel. To say thank you. I wish I could ship it and be guaranteed it would taste  fabulous for you, or be in one piece for that matter. I wish I could buy you more than one cup of coffee, because seriously a years worth of coffee is what you should be getting.

I made lemon meringue cupcakes, in honor of this template.

Again, these were not something that came solely from me. It's a mix of recipes from those who I admire for the classics. For without these people to lift me up I'd be without inspiration with one boring looking blog.

The cupcake base is from Brown Eyed Baker and the only thing I changed is greek yogurt for the sour cream.

The lemon curd filling is my go to recipe and it never fails. I'm not as refined and I don't strain it, but other than that everything is the same.

The fluffy top is a 7 minute frosting. Take your pick out of the numerous ones out there. I like the ones where you boil the sugar, water and the cream of tarter and pour them in the egg white. I added some lemon zest to bring everything together.

I'm so grateful that there are people out there with way more knowledge than me, that are willing to share.

Thank you Katrina for every single thing you post! I don't think I would like this world of blogging half as much, nor would my blog be very pretty with out you.

Thank you food bloggers and food lovers who post your recipes. I am always inspired and always ready to try something new.

Thank you readers and people who stop by. It's nice to know you are out there and willing to read my words and make my food.

I really need one of those cupcakes. I can't make a batch because then I'll eat a batch.

Lovely layout - it reminds me that I've been meaning to make doughnuts lately!

That's an amazing lot of goodies over at Pugly Pixel. It makes me wish I had Photoshop, or any half-decent image software for that matter. I would use the argyle brush on everything, cat included:)
