On The Side: Semantics

I think in the world of professional kitchens it's a called a "chef's snack".

A taste, a nibble, a sample, a bite. Of course it's all to ensure that everything is seasoned perfectly and of the most superb quality.

You see that tasty strip of bacon there? The nice and crispy one. That is my little morsel to devour while preparing everyones sandwich. Sure, bacon is a golden commodity around here and you had better grab yours quick. Perhaps I have an unfair advantage being the sole chef in the kitchen, but I feel that gives me priority eating. No?

What's your take? Chef's snack, or over inflated sense of self entitlement?

I totally think we deserve it! I mean...hello! We have to make sure it's good right?? That and we do all the work so shouldn't we get the first and best bites?? I'm with ya babe! All the way!

Chef snacks?? Definitely... I never start any cooking without a beer or a glass of wine and some salty nuts to nibble. But hey....bacon could totally be my next reward.
