So with gross fingers there is news of good food (not necessarily made with gross finger). I was pleasantly surprised lately to find some really good gluten free things. One is this recipe for pizza crust. It was wonderful. It still had a nice crunch and very good flavor. Of course it was missing some of that chewiness that only gluten can give you, but it was very close. I topped it with some sauted mushrooms and a onion marmalade I made earlier. It was so good.

We even tried some gluten free hotdog buns (purchased at Whole Foods) for our Super Bowl spread. They were very good. They had just the right texture and a hint of sweetness that goes good with the hotdog.

Being that we were very skeptical of these buns due to some awful bread we purchased, I picked up some ribs from Whole Food Smoke House. WOW. The kids ate hotdogs while we knocked back some ribs with Balsamic BBQ sauce. They were incredible. Very succulent and tender. Just the way a rib should be. It was a wonderful Super Bowl feast.

I also tried Gluten Free Girl's recipe for Jamaican Jerk Chicken. The kids loved it, and I did too. The leftovers were not there when I awoke as Cambrell polished it all off as soon as he got home. Good thing I took a picture.

I couldn't let it pass with out something for dessert - chocolate today. I'm not a chocolate freak as some are. In fact I often pass the chocolate over for a good caramel, or deep vanilla flavor. But when I want chocolate - I WANT CHOCOLATE. I want a rich deep cocoa flavor. No "milk" chocolate. I'm sure these insane, primal urges have some sort of "moon cycle" hormone thing regulating them. But this week I know I just wanted something to boost the endorphins and make it all go away. My finger bloody hurt and I wanted decadence. So I whipped up my pseudo healthy chocolate mousse. Yes there is tofu in it, but he trick is extremely good chocolate, and a healthy dollop of REAL whip cream. No one ever can tell that it's made with tofu. (My picture of chocolate goodness was sad at best, so here's a picture of what a face would look like before my chocolate mousse, and after).

Before

After!
